Whether organic food, bio-rhythm or geo-logy and geo-graphy: it is always about the natural connections between body and space as well as between man and environment. Plants that grows naturally in certain regions, on certain soils and in certain climatic conditions are particularly well suited to these places – and thus also to the diet and digestive plan of the people of this region. It is the same with building materials, be it earth and sand for plaster surfaces, wood or stone for wall and floor coverings or colouring substances and pigments for paint production. The closer the chosen building material is to the environment, the easier and more naturally the man-made rooms fit into the natural surroundings in terms of colour and climate. The more exotic the “ingredients” become, the more difficult the task of balancing climatic and consequent tectonic differences. This is, for example, very well known in the case of terrace floors, for which cost-efficient wood choices are taken. The selected wood often comes from Asian countries with much higher outside temperatures and humidity. In Central Europe, these materials are not sustainable and have to be replaced in due time with regional products or completely different materials.

Latrace project: Latrace Project: Kitchen in the Latrace Studio
A feel-good kitchen needs feel-good colours and materials. That’s why the kitchen walls of the Latrace Studio feature ingredients similar to those found in the food and pantry cabinets: cocoa beans, coffee powder and rooibos tea complemented by green and pale pink natural lime plaster and natural, pure clay. These materials not only look beautiful, they are above all very functional: they filter the air, regulate the indoor climate and ensure even more purity and hygiene, thanks to their partly antibacterial effect.
